Description
Advanced Placement United States Government and Politics will focus on the US Constitution and the importance of this document for Americans. The student will identify how political beliefs and behaviors are connected. Political parties and interest groups play a very large role in how the government of the United States operates, and students will study the two major parties and several powerful interest groups. The student will analyze the role of the mass media on the governing process. The student will also look into civil rights and liberties, past, present, and where the future of these liberties may be taking us.

Choose an article on some aspect of Government in the United States. The article can be on the Federal Government or State government. Print out the article (1st page) and summarize the article onto a notecard. Place your name, the title of the article, and the due date on the notecard. Staple the notecard to the article. 
Be prepared to present the article in front of the class (2 to 3 minutes). State the facts, then offer an opinion on what you think. Be expected to answer a question or two after you present. Questions may come from students or Mr. Conley.
