English 11 Honors (Period 3rd)

Course Description

Honors English 11 is the study of American Literature with a strong focus on writing and rhetorical purpose. Strong instruction and practice to support the ACT and EOC tests are blended into the class, especially in the areas of the conventions (grammar, punctuation, spelling, usage). Students are encouraged to do outside reading in books of their own choice that they find both challenging and interesting. Students will complete multiple presentations using technology, give speeches and debates, write essays - timed and prepared - and complete a research paper.
