Spirit Week: Alma Mater (For Honors U.S. History)
An Alma Mater is the anthem of a school. If you are able to memorize the Bartlett Alma Mater to show your school spirit before the end of Spirit Week I will replace your lowest Homework or in class assignment grade with your score on reciting it (excluding the DBQ assignment). Spirit Week fluctuates every school year, so if you are wanting it to count for 1st quarter this must be done the week before the last week of the 1st quarter. Every mistake will be one point off. Alternatively I could give you extra points on a test or quiz by a ratio of 10:1 (example: 97=9.7 points on a test). You can recite, sing, or rap it. The last opportunity to do so will be the Friday of spirit week. The Alma Mater is shown below and also attached. You may do this before Spirit Week.

This is a small way we can help fight world hunger. There is a website called Freerice. In exchange for showing academic prowess (answering various english, math and geography questions), the organization gives free rice to starving people all over the world! It is run through the World Food Programme.
Individual Competition:
-If you donate rice you will receive one of the following at the end of the quarter: dropped quiz, 10 points on a test or quiz, a homework pass, or something else. To participate, follow these steps:
1. Click on “World Hunger” at the top of this section
2. Click on the “sign up” tab
3. Search groups for Coach Siler’s Class 2014 and select your class period to join (use “Coach” for your search)
4. Start donating rice! (Make sure you are logged in every time you visit or it won't record it!)
What does World/US History and Geography have to do with world hunger? History studies the people of the world/US as well as patterns that affect them, such as world hunger.
