Calculus (Fall Semester) (Period 2)

Course Description

Calculus is designed for students interested in STEM-based careers and builds on the concepts studied in pre-calculus and Algebra II. The study of calculus on the high school level includes a study of limits, derivatives, and an introduction to integrals. Several applications of these concepts include behavior of functions, continuity, projectile motion, measuring the area and volume of non-uniform objects, and various others. These concepts are the foundational of various burgeoning and rewarding career fields, including engineering, computer programming, and finance.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will receive one-half unit of math credit. In accordance with the State of Tennessee graduation requirements, high school students must take four (4) full credits of mathematics while in high school. Therefore, this is considered a graduation requirement.
