Welcome to Miss Steele's class!

Welcome to my webpage! I am so excited to have you in my class this year!
I can be easily reached at, if you have any questions!
What I love about English 10 is that we get to take a trip around the world from the comfort of our own classroom! My classroom will always be a safe place where we can discuss literature through the lens of both our personal experience and the experience of others. It is my goal for you to leave my class in May a stronger writer, reader and thinker than you entered in August.I truly believe today's teenagers can change the world!
All of my classes have a Remind. This is where I will send out important information throughout the year. We will sign up for this together in class, but in case you forget the code, they are as follows. Text your code to 81010
1st Period Remind Code- @jsteele1

About Me
My name is Jessie Steele. I am 24 years old, and this is my first year teaching.
I received my B.S in Elementary Education with a Minor in English in 2017, and in 2019 I graduated with Masters in the Art of Teaching (Secondary Education). I received both of these degrees from the University of Memphis.
Bartlett High School has been a part of my life since before I was born- both of my parents attended here, and my mother, Chris Steele, has taught here since 1991. While I was working towards my Masters, I subbed here for a year and a half, in addition to student teaching at Houston High School.
My time subbing showed me that I absolutely adore working with teenagers, especially the teenagers at Bartlett High School. The diversity, personality and attitude of the students at BHS is electric- these students will change the world.
I am extremely passionate in my goal to get students to LOVE to read and think. I believe that when students learn to think, and research and question, they can begin to take a stand for what is right. I want my students to find and use their voice,
When I am not teaching, you can find me coaching our award-winning forensics team, reading one of my favorite books, geeking out over the royal family, or speaking out against injustice.
Again, I am so excited to get to know you this year. It is going to be a good one.
