Welcome to Miss Steele's class!

Welcome to my webpage! I am so excited to have you in my class this year!
I can be easily reached at [email protected], if you have any questions!

What I love about English 10 is that we get to take a trip around the world from the comfort of our own classroom! My classroom will always be a safe place where we can discuss literature through the lens of both our personal experience and the experience of others. It is my goal for you to leave my class in May a stronger writer, reader and thinker than you were when you entered in August.Additionally, I hope you leave my classroom affirmed in the knowledge that YOU matter, and contribute something to the universe!
I truly believe today's teenagers can change the world!

All of my classes have a Remind. This is where I will send out important information throughout the year. It is MANDATORY TO JOIN REMIND FOR MY CLASS. IT IS VITAL TO YOUR SUCCESS.
We will sign up for this together in class, but in case you forget the code, they are as follows. Text your code to 81010 or download the remind app.

My name is Jessie Steele. I am 28 years old, and this is my fifth year teaching.
I received my B.S in Elementary Education with a Minor in English in 2017, and in 2019 I graduated with Masters in the Art of Teaching (Secondary Education). I received both of these degrees from the University of Memphis. We are a Memphis Tigers classroom 😎

Bartlett High School has been a part of my life since before I was born- both of my parents attended here, and my mother, Chris Steele, has taught here since 1991. While I was working towards my Masters, I subbed here for a year and a half, in addition to student teaching at Houston High School.

I absolutely love BHS, and I love getting to work the coolest kids around. The diversity, personality and attitude of the students at BHS is electric- ya'll WILL change the world.

I am extremely passionate in my goal to get students to LOVE to read, write and think. I believe that when students learn to think, and research and question, they can begin to take a stand for what is right. I want YOU to find and use your voice. Even if you never crack the spine of another book- you will leave here with at least one favorite!

In addition to teaching 10th grade English, I am also the Prom and Snowflake committee sponsor! If you are interested in joining those committees, please see the Prom/Snowflake Committee tab!

Again, I am so excited to get to know you this year. It is going to be a good one
