Accessing Clever & Canvas Canvas

Canvas Overview

Designed specifically for education, Canvas is an easy-to-use, cloud-based LMS that connects all the digital tools and resources teachers and students use daily in one location.

  • Teachers can post all their course content in one place.  Calendar for due dates, links to class resources (course notes & videos), homework assignments, discussion boards, etc.
  • Students can see all their assignments, due dates, and class materials in one place. They can submit assignments and see teacher feedback.
  • Canvas syncs with Microsoft 365, Edulastic, Turnitin, OneNote, and a host of other education resources for teachers & students.
  • Parents can "observe" their student's progress and communicate with their teachers in both a web browser and the Canvas mobile app. (See Parent Resources for instructions to set up a Parent/Observer account.)

Students and parents should continue to use PowerSchool to monitor grades. Grades in Canvas may not reflect the final grade for a course.

BCS Student Email 📧
Student email can be accessed from any online device in a web browser (webmail) or through the Outlook App.  BCS emails are Microsoft Office 365 accounts and include 1 TB of OneDrive storage for their classwork. Students will use their school email to activate Microsoft Office on the student's school issued laptop.  When creating accounts for class based online resources (Quizziz, Canva, FlipGrid, Desmos, etc), students should select "Log In with Microsoft Office 365" when available. This will sync those accounts with their student email so students will have few username & passwords to keep track of.

Laptop Basics 💻
All 6 - 12 BCS students are issued MacBook Airs (model #A2337). We believe as a school district, that the student’s laptop should be used for personal use and be treated like it is their own laptop, but in a responsible manner. Every BCS campus has a technology team available for all student questions or concerns regarding their BCS issued laptop. It is highly recommended that students purchase a hardshell case to help protect the laptop from any accidents that may happen.
