International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators and Allied Workers is accepting applications for apprentices. Applicants must have a valid driver's license, social security card, birth certificate, high school diploma or GED, be 18 years of age, pay $33 and make the required score on the ACT WorkKeys test, and pass a drug screening. Iron Workers Local Union No. 167 offer four-year apprenticeship programs in the field and are accepting applications. Interested individuals at least 18 years of age need to provide the following: valid driver's license, birth certificate, high school diploma or GED, social security card, physically able to handle the demands of the job, and pass a drug test. Memphis Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee accepts apprenticeship applications each Thursday from 9am-7pm at 6211 Shelby Oaks Drive in Memphis. Applicants must be 18 years of age with a valid driver's license and proven work history and/or resume. A qualifying score on the NJATC aptitude test (algebra and reading comprehension) is required before the interview process begins. Chosen applicants will also need to pass a physical and drug test. Apprentices must agree to work in an electrical field for at least five years after completion of the program or repay their training costs. Memphis Plumbers Joint Apprenticeship Committee accepts applications for apprentices each Wednesday from 8am-11am. Requirements include: at least 18 years old with a valid driver's license, high school diploma or GED, pay $40 and make a satisfactory score on the Work Keys assessment, and pass a drug screening. Memphis Police Department is hiring Police Service Technicians (PST) for potential careers in law enforcement. Applicants must be 18 years of age, U.S. citizen, proof of high school graduation or GED, hold a driver's license with a cleaning driving record, among other requirements. Those chosen will complete a 6 week training in traffic control and investigating traffic accidents, then are given the opportunity to obtain an associate's degree in criminal justice paid for by the City of Memphis before training as a Memphis police officer.
