Class Information: Syllabus (Class Policies and Procedures)/ Supplies / Standards / Pacing Guide

Welcome to my classroom for the 2023-24 school year. I have been teaching chemistry successfully for 23 years at Bartlett High School. I feel that the classroom learning environment is optimal when we respect ourselves and others and take responsibility for our actions. My class Policies and Procedures document is a contract between us that enables you to have an understanding of my expectations for classroom behavior and academics. I will give you my best everyday...I expect the same from you.

  • Chemistry students may provide their own lab goggles for laboratory activities. Goggles purchased by students will be stored in a ziplock bag in the classroom. Attached is an informational page with the type of goggles that are required in our lab activities. We do have a class set of goggles if you choose not to provide your own goggles...see the "Science Fee and Goggle Posted" link on this page.

  • There is a $10 dollar lab fee - payable online, cash, or check...see the "Science Fee and Goggle Posted" link on this page.

In Chemistry, we will be combining the science concepts with the math that supports the ideas and learning. Many find chemistry challenging for this reason...you cannot just memorize...successful students in chemistry read, practice, and evaluate the learning. The pacing guide is provided to give you guidance in the topics that we will be covering and when. I will adjust the pacing guide as needed...it is a "flexible" document. Also, I have included the standards provided by the state of Tennessee that we will be covering during the course of the year.

Why live up to expectations when you can defy them? Be the positive force that opens up all the opportunities to your world!
