Class content/overview

During the first 9 weeks (quarter) of each semester in US Government we will be covering:
-The Presidents of the United States
-Our 50 states
-The Principles of Government
-The Basic Concepts of Democracy
-Origins of American Government
-Development of state constitutions and the Articles of Confederation
-The Constitution of the United States
 
During the second 9 weeks (quarter) of each semester we will be covering:
-Voters and Voter Behavior
-The Civil RIghts Acts
-Our US Congress
-How a bill becomes a law
-The Executive Branch
-Presidential Nominations and the Electoral College
-The National Judiciary
-State and local governments
 
We will be spending about a week on each of the above topics.  Students will have quizzes at various times during the 9 weeks and we will have a test at the conclusion of each topic.
 
Students are encouraged to keep up with current events as we will be relating many present day events to the topics we are covering.
