Scholastic- how to register

If you are new to scholastic, go to www.artandwriting.org (Links to an external site.) and select "create a new account". 

If you are not new, you should be able to log in to your old account. Sophomores who participated last year will likely need to update their "school"  to Bartlett High School. All returning students should check their "grade level" to make sure it is correct. 

Please choose "Panthers1!" as your password. That way, I can log in to your account to help you if you have a problem. 

Select me as your teacher!  

When asked, please select that you will need a "fee waiver" form.

Begin to upload work!

• Our deadline is December 1st 2021
• You may enter a total of 16 images
• Consider resubmitting work that did NOT receive Scholastic awards in the past.
• You will go through 8 different screens for every entry you have.  It goes fast once you get the hang of it! 
• You are entering a work of "Art" the type of art is "photography"
• When asked what "media" you used, type in the type of camera you used, such as "I-phone 8" or "Canon Power Shot camera"  or "canon Rebel t6" 
• The dimensions of your art are 8 X 10. Thats for every photo!
• When asked to "tag" your work, type in descriptive things about that shot, such as "landscape" or "portrait" or "nature" or "black and white".
• The title of your work is extremely important. You can select a generic title and go back and change it later. Ask me for help with titles! 
• Photos cannot be in HEIC or HEIF format. Please change them to JPEG before uploading to Scholastic. 
• After uploading an image, it will tell you if there is a problem. You want the "quality" to be "excellent" or "good" . If it says "poor" ask me about it but continue to upload additional work while you wait for me to help you.
• After uploading an image, it may say the image is too large. I know how to solve this problem. Send me an email if this happens. Please continue to upload additional work while you wait for me to help you
• If you get any "red" flags, it is likely because you have not completed your profile. Go back to the first page and finish entering your address, phone number, parents names, etc.
• If multiple shots with the same subject are entered ( like..a dog, a cat, a tree, an eye, ) none of them will receive an award (or that has been my observation).  For this reason, some of your submissions may be deleted.  The one absolute BEST composition out of all shots with similar subjects will go forward to Scholastic. This determination will be made by me or myself and a random sample of photography students.
