Week of Feb. 27 - Mar. 3

Monday, Feb. 27 - There will be no Vocabulary words this week.
Students will be given instructions for the Julius Caesar essay.  The essay will be turned in on turnitin.com no later than Monday, Mar. 6, at 3:00 PM.  
All Files are attached, and you can refer to them if you have questions.
Tuesday, Feb. 28 - Julius Caesar Test.  Students may then work on their essay when they finish their test.
Wednesday, Mar. 1 - Students will work on their Julius Caesar essay in class.
Thursday, Mar. 2 - Students will be assigned a Julius Caesar Newspaper Project which will be completed in groups.  The finished newspaper will be turned in at the end of class on Friday, Mar. 10.
Friday, Mar. 3 - Students work on their project in their groups.  Students will also receive the Notebook Check List.  The Notebook Test will be Tuesday,
Mar. 7.

Week of Feb. 20 - 24

Monday, Feb. 20 -  Progress Reports will be sent home.  They need to be signed and returned by Friday in order to receive a 10 point bonus coupon.
 Ms. Howard, 10th grade guidance counselor will visit in order to go over class selection for next year.  Students are to bring fully-charged computers to class in order to register for classes for next year.
Tuesday, Feb. 21 - Students will define Voc. 22 words:  perceive, perception, perseverance, personification, pertinent, pivotal, plausible, pompous, portly, posthumous. Students will continue reading Act V of Julius Caesar and answer the study guide.  NEWSela assignment made.  Read the article on "Hospitals could soon use drones to deliver life saving...
Take the quiz and submit by Friday, Feb. 24
Wednesday, Feb. 22  -  Students will complete Voc. 22-2 and can make flashcards for extra credit.  Students will finish reading Act V and take a quiz over Act V.  Students will receive the final study guide in preparation for the test on Friday.
Thursday, Feb. 23 - Students will complete G.W.U. Voc. 22-1.  They will then watch Act V of the video.
Friday, Feb. 24 - Students will complete Voc. 22 quiz.  Students will complete Julius Caesar test.  NEWSela assignment due.
 

Week of Feb. 13 - 17

Monday, Feb. 13 - Students will define Voc. 21 words:  palatable, pallid, paradox, paraphrase, parody, pastoral, patent, paternal, patriarch, pauper
Students will finish reading Act III of Julius Caesar, answer the study guide, and complete a quiz over Act III.  We will then begin reading Act IV.  Students will be assigned a CNN Student News article to summarize - due Friday, Feb. 17.
Tuesday, Feb. 14 - Students will complete Voc. 21-2.  They can make flashcards for extra credit.  Students will continue reading Act IV of Julius Caesar and answer the study guide.
Wednesday, Feb. 15 - Students will complete G.W.U. 21-1 and Voc. 21-3. Students will finish reading Act IV and begin reading Act V.
Thursday, Feb. 16 - Students will complete G.W.U. 21-2 and Voc. 21-3.  Students will continue reading Act V and answering the study guide.
Friday, Feb. 17 - Students will complete Voc. 21 quiz and then watch the video on Julius Caesar.  CNN Student News summary due.

Week of Feb. 6 - 9

Monday, Feb. 6 - Students will work on Voc. 16-20 review puzzle.  Voc. 16-20 test will be Thursday, Feb. 8.  Puzzle is due Thursday also.  Students will watch Act II, Sc. 1 of the video.
Tuesday, Feb. 7 - Students will begin reading Act III, Sc. 2, and answer the study guide.
Wednesday, Feb. 8 -  Students will continue reading Act III, Sc. 2, answering the study guide and analyzing the funeral speeches.
Thursday, Feb. 9 - Students will complete Voc. 16 - 20 Test.  Parent Conferences from 3 - 6 pm.  Call Guidance to sign up for a time.

Week of Jan. 30 - Feb. 3

Monday, Jan. 30 - Students will define Voc. 20 words:  negligible, notoriety, obligatory, obliterate, oblivious, odious, opportune, ornate, ossify, painstaking.
Students will read Act II, sc. 2 and answer the study guide.  Act II quiz tomorrow.
Tuesday, Jan. 31 - Students will complete Voc. 20-2.  They can make flashcards for extra credit.  Students will read Act II, sc. 3 and 4, answer the study guide, and take a quiz over Act II.  They will then work on NewsELA assignment on the computer.  Read the article on John F. Kennedy's speech on Space Exploration and take the quiz. Due Friday
Bring charged computers to class Wednesday in order to complete CFA #5.
Wednesday, Feb. 1 - Students will correct G.W.U. 20-1 and Voc. 20-3. Students will complete CFA #5 on their computers. 
Thursday, Feb. 2  -  Students will correct G.W.U. 20-2 and Voc. 20-3. They will complete Voc. 20-4 for homework in order to study for the Voc. 20 quiz tomorrow. Students will begin reading Act III, Sc. 1 and answer the study guide.  
Friday, Feb. 3 - NEWSela  assignment is due today.  Students will complete Voc. 20 Quiz.  Students will continue reading Act III, sc. 1
Students will receive the Voc. 16 - 10 unit test.  The test will be next Thursday.

Week of Jan. 23 - 27

Monday, Jan. 23 - Students in periods 1, 2, 3, and 7 will complete Act I quiz.
All students will define Voc. 19 words:  mettle, mien, militant, momentum, mortify, mosque, mull, mutable, mystic, naive.  
Students will create an account in Turnitin.com, and then work on their assignment due Thursday.
Homework:  Students will go to Edmodo to complete the English Practice Test Part I.  Answers should be written on paper and have ready to turn in Thursday.
Tuesday, Jan. 24 - Students will complete Voc. 19 - 2.  Students can make flashcards for extra credit.  Students will begin reading Act II, sc.1 and answer study guide.
Students will be given Progress Reports.  They will need to be signed and returned by Friday. 
Homework:  Students will go to Edmodo to complete the English Practice Test Part II, sample questions and questions #1-7  Answers should be written on same sheet of paper as Part I and have ready to turn in Thursday.
Students should also work on assignment on Turnitin.com - due Thursday by the end of the school day.
Wednesday, Jan. 25 - Students will complete Voc. 19 - 3 and G.W.U. 19 - 1.  Students will continue reading Act II, sc. 2 and 3.  They will answer the study guide.
Homework:  Students will go to Edmodo to complete the English Practice Test Part II, questions #8-21.  Answers should be written on same sheet of paper as Part I and Part II, #1-7 and have ready to turn in Thursday.
Students should also work on assignment on Turnitin.com - due Thursday by the end of the school day, 2:00 PM.
Thursday, Jan 26 - Students will turn in English Practice Test answers.  Students will complete Voc. 19 - 3 and G.W.U. 19 - 2.  They will continue reading Act II and answer the study guide.  A quiz over Act II will be taken when Act II is finished.
Homework:  Study for Voc. 19 quiz
Friday, Jan. 27 - Students will complete Voc. 19 quiz.  Students will then watch Acts I and II video.
 

Week of Jan. 17 - 20

Tuesday, Jan. 17 - Students will define Voc. 18 words:  mandatory, mannerism, martial, meager, mediocre, melancholy, melodramatic, mentor, meticulous, militant.  Students will continue reading Act I, sc. 2 of Julius Caesar and answer study guide,
Wednesday, Jan. 18 - Students will complete Voc. 18-2.  Students will read Act I, sc. 3,  and answer the study guide.
Thursday, Jan. 19 - Students will complete Voc. 18-3 and G.W.U. 18-1.  Students will finish reading Act I, and complete quiz on Act I.
Friday, Jan. 20 - Students will complete Voc. 18 Quiz.  They will then watch Act I of Julius Caesar in order to gain a better understanding of the play and in order to have a visual of the characters in the play.

Week of Jan. 9 - 13

Monday, Jan. 9 -  Students will complete Voc. 16 quiz.
Students will define Voc. 17 words:   juncture, lament, lapse, latitude, legacy, lexicon, livid, loathe, malignant, malleable
Students will turn in completed G.W.U. 16-1 and Voc. 16-3.
Students will return Parent invitation letter (Edmodo) signed for Extra Credit.
Students will have completed the quiz for Newsela article on "Dictionary - Surreal"  due Tuesday
Students will work on Shakespeare Webquest and finish for homework if necessary.
Students will summarize a CNN story using the 5 "W's" and due Tuesday.
Tuesday, Jan. 10 - Students will complete Voc. 17-2.  Students can make flashcards for extra credit.  Students will complete background on Julius Caesar's rise to power.
Wednesday, Jan. 11 - Students will complete G.W.U. 17-1 and Voc. 17-3.  Students will begin reading Julius Caesar Act I - sc. 1.
Thursday, Jan. 12 - Students will complete G.W.U. 17-2 and Voc. 17-3.
Students will continue reading Act I - sc. 1 and answer the study guide.
Friday, Jan. 13 - Students will complete Voc. 17 Quiz.  Students will read Act I - sc. 2 and answer study guide.

Week of Jan. 3 - 6

Tuesday, Jan. 3 - Students will define Voc. 16 words:  intuition, invariably, invincible, irksome, irrational, irrelevant, itinerary, jargon, jostle, judicious
Students will also work on a "Personal Reflection of 2017" sheet.  If not finished in class, it will need to be finished to for homework.
Wednesday, Jan. 4 - Students will complete Voc. 16-1.  Students can make flashcards for extra credit.  Students will use "Personal Reflection" sheet to complete an "Infographic".  Completed "Infographic" is due Thursday at the beginning of class.
Thursday, Jan. 5 - Students will complete G.W.U. 16-1 and Voc. 16-3.  Students will begin working on William Shakespeare webquest in preparation for the reading of Julius Caesar.
Friday, Jan. 6 - Students will complete Voc. 16 quiz.  Students will finish web- quest on William Shakespeare and turn in.

Week of Dec. 12 - 16

Monday, Dec. 12 - Students will complete Notebook Test.  Each student must have his or her own notebook in class.
Tuesday, Dec. 13 -  Students will work on Exam Review in order to prepare for the Exam.
Wednesday, Dec. 14 - Students in 6th period will complete their English Exam.
Other students will continue to work on Exam Review in order to prepare for the Exam.
Thursday, Dec. 15 - Students in 5th and 7th periods will complete their English Exam.  Other students will continue to work on Exam Review in order to prepare for the Exam.
Friday, Dec. 16 - Students in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd periods will complete their English Exam.
All students will school leave at 10:30.

Week of Dec. 5 - 9

Monday, Dec. 5 - Students will define Voc. 15 words:  ineffectual, inertia,
infallible, influx, inhibition, innate, innovation, insipid, insolence, intermittent.  Students will read Act II of Twelve Angry Men and answer study guide.
Tuesday, Dec. 6 - Students will complete Voc. 15-2.  They will take a quiz over Act II.  Students will then watch Act II in order to better understand the play.  Students can make flashcards for extra credit.
Wednesday, Dec. 7 - Students will complete G.W.U. 15-1 and Voc. 15-3.  Students will begin to read Act III and answer the study guide.
Thursday, Dec. 8 - Students will complete G.W.U. 15-2 and Voc. 15-3.  Students will finish reading Act III and answer the study guide.  Students will complete quiz over Act III.  Students will receive Notebook Check List in order to prepare for Notebook Test on Monday, Dec. 12.
Friday, Dec. 9 - Students will complete Voc. 15 quiz.  Students will watch Act III of Twelve Angry Men.  6th period students will receive Exam review to work on in class.  Notebook Test Monday.  Have organized notebooks in class on Monday.

Week of Nov. 28 - Dec. 2

Monday, Nov. 28 - Students will turn in Short Story Comic Strip project at the beginning of class.  All projects turned in after the beginning of class will be graded late.
Students will define Voc. 14 words:  inanimate, inarticulate,
incendiary, incentive, inclement, inconsistent, indestructible, indict, indignant, indomitable.  
Students will complete background information worksheet on 12 Angry Men.
Tuesday, Nov. 29 - Students will complete Voc. 14-2.  They can make flashcards for extra credit.  
Students will begin reading Act I of 12 Angry Men.
Wednesday, Nov. 30 - Students will complete G.W.U. 14-1 and Voc. 14-3.  Students will continue reading Act I and answer the study guide.  A quiz over Act I will either be today or tomorrow.
Thursday, Dec. 1 - Students will complete G.W.U. 14-1 and Voc. 14-3.  Student will complete Act I quiz if it was not taken yesterday.  Students will complete CFA #4.  Students will begin reading Act II.
Friday, Dec. 2 - Students will complete Voc. 14 quiz.  Students will watch Act I of 12 Angry Men, gaining visual information and comparing the video to the actual play.

Week of Nov. 21 - 22

Monday, Nov. 21 - Students will define Voc. 13 words:  hors d'oeuvre, immaculate, impartial, impediment, imperceptible, implacable, imposition, inaccessible, inadvertent, inalienable.   Students will begin working on their Short Story test project in class.  Students will be given the directions and information and will work on it in class.
Tuesday, Nov. 22 - Students will complete Voc. 13-2.  They will continue working on their Short Story test project and turn it in at the end of class.
