Week of Jan. 29 - Feb. 2

Monday, Jan. 29 - Students will define Voc. 18 words:  mandatory, mannerism, marital, meager, mediocre, melancholy, melodramatic, mentor, merge, meticulous.  Students will watch Act I of Julius Caesar.
 
Tuesday, Jan. 30 - Students will complete Voc. 18-2, and make flashcards for extra credit.  Students will begin reading Act II, sc. 1 of Julius Caesar, and answer the study guide.
 
Wednesday, Jan. 31 - Students will complete  G.W.U. 18-1.  Students will finish reading Act II, sc. 1, and then begin reading sc. 2, and answer the study guide questions.
 
Thursday, Feb. 1 - Students will complete Voc. 18-3 and then login to turnitin.com and complete a writing assignment that goes along with Julius Caesar.  Students will work on the assignment in class, and it must be finished and submitted on turnitin.com  by Friday by 2 p.m.
 
Friday, Feb. 2 - Students will complete Voc. 18 quiz and then spend the rest of the class time finishing and submitting their writing assignment.  Writing assignments must be submitted on turnitin.com  no late than Friday, Feb. 2, by 2:00 p.m.

Week of Jan. 22 - 26

Monday, Jan. 22 - Students will define Voc. 17 words:  juncture, lament, lapse, latitude, legacy, lexicon, livid, loathe, malignant, malleable.  Students will begin reading Act I, sc. 1 of Julius Caesar found in the literature book.  Students will answer the study guide.
 
Tuesday, Jan. 23 - Common Students will complete Voc. 17-2, and they can make flashcards for extra credit.  They will then continue reading Julius Caesar by reading Act I, sc.2 and answering the study guide.
 
Wednesday, Jan. 24 - Students will complete Voc. 17-3 and G.W.U. 17-1.  They will then continue reading Julius Caesar by finishing Act I, sc.2, beginning Act I, sc.3, and answering the study guide.
 
Thursday, Jan, 25 -  Students will complete Voc. 17-4 and G.W.U. 17-2.  They will then continue reading Julius Caesar by finishing Act I  and answering the study guide.  Students will then take a quiz over Act I.
 
Friday, Jan. 26 - Students will complete Voc. 17 quiz, and then they will watch Act I of Julius Caesar in order to gain a better understanding of what is happening in the play. 

Week of Jan. 8 - 11

Monday, Jan. 8 - Students will define Voc. 16 words:  intuition, invariably, invincible, irksome, irrational, irrelevant, itinerary, jargon, jostle, judicious
Students will watch a powerpoint on William Shakespeare and complete a graphic organizer.
 
Tuesday, Jan. 9 - Students will complete Voc. 16-2.  They can make flashcards for extra credit.  Students will finish watching and taking notes on powerpoint about Shakespeare.
 
Wednesday, Jan. 10 - Students will complete Voc. 16-3 and G.W.U. 16-1.  Students will watch a powerpoint on Julius Caesar and review notes on Caesar in preparation for reading the play.
 
Thursday, Jan. 11 - Students will complete Voc. 16-3 and G.W.U. 16-2.  Students will watch a powerpoint on Julius Caesar and review notes on Caesar in preparation for reading the play.  Students need to complete Voc. 16-4 in preparation for the Voc. quiz tomorrow.  Students need to bring fully charged laptops to class on Friday.
 
Friday, Jan. 12 - Students will complete Voc. 16 quiz.  Students will then log into CommonLit.com to complete an assignment.  They will also answer study guide to accompany the reading.  If the assignment is not finished in class, then it must be finished over the weekend.  It must be turned in by Tuesday, Jan. 16.
 

Week of Jan. 4 - 5

Thursday, Jan. 4 - Students will be given an information sheet on how to join Edmodo and have their parents join for a 10 point bonus coupon.
Students organized their notebooks for the new semester.
Students will complete the Personal Reflection graphic organizer they received in class.. They may want to bring colored pencils for class tomorrow.

Friday, Jan. 5 - Students will use their Personal Reflection graphic organizer in order to complete the "Infographic" sheet and turn it in.

Week of Dec. 18 - 20

Monday, Dec. 18 - 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 6th periods will work on exam review.  5th and 7th periods will take their exam.
 
Tuesday, Dec. 19 - 1st, 2nd, and 3rd periods will work on their exam reviews.  6th period will take their exam.
 
Wednesday, Dec. 20 - 1st, 2nd, and 3rd periods will take their exams.  School is dismissed at 10:30.

Week of Dec. 11 - 15

Monday, Dec. 11 - Students will define Vocabulary 15 words:  ineffectual, inertia, infallible, influx, inhibition, innate, innovation, insipid, insolence, intermittent . Students will work on organizing their notebooks using the Notebook Check sheet they received Friday.  They will finish watching the 12 Angry Men video.  ** Failing students will be give a grade replacement assignment to complete in order to replace their lowest test grade.  The entire assignment is be turned in by Mon., Dec. 18.
 
Tuesday, Dec. 12 - Students will complete Notebook Test.  Students must have their notebooks in class and the test must be finished in class.
 
Wednesday, Dec. 13 - Students will complete Voc. 15 -2.  They can make flashcards for extra credit.  Students will then work on start on a writing assignment based on 12 Angry Men
 
Thursday, Dec. 14 - Students will complete Voc. 15-3 and G.W.U. 15-1.  Students will then complete and turn in their 12 Angry Men writing assignment.
7th period will receive Part 1 of the review for the English Exam to be taken on Monday, Dec. 18.
 
Friday, Dec. 15 - Students will complete Voc. 15 Quiz.  Students in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 6th periods will receive Part 1 of the review for the English Exam to be taken next week.  7th period will receive part 2 of the exam review.  ** 5th and 7th periods will take their English Exam Monday, Dec. 18.

Week of Dec. 4 - 8

Monday, Dec. 4 -  Students will define Voc. 14 words:  inanimate, inarticulate, incendiary, incentive, inclement, inconsistent, indestructible, indict, indignant, indomitable.   Students will continue reading Act 2 of 12 Angry Men and answering the study guide.  Progress Reports will be given out.  They need to have parent signature and returned by Friday, Dec. 8.
 
Tuesday, Dec. 5 -  Students will complete Voc. 14-2.  They can make flashcards for extra credit.  Students will complete Act 2 quiz for 12 Angry Men.  Students will begin reading Act 3.
 
Wednesday, Dec. 6 - Students will complete Voc. 14-3 and G.W.U. 14-1.  Students will continue reading Act 3 and answering the study guide.  Students will complete Act 3 quiz.  Students must bring fully charged computers to class on Thursday in order to take a CFA.
 
Thursday, Dec. 7 - Students will complete CFA #2.  Quiz over Act 3 if not taken the day before.  Must have fully charged computers in order to complete CFA.
 
Friday, Dec. 8 - Students will complete Voc. 14 quiz.  Students will then watch Act 2 of 12 Angry Men.
 

Week of Nov. 27 - Dec. 1

Monday, Nov. 27 - Students will define Voc. 13 words:  hors d'oeuvre, immaculate, impartial, impediment, imperceptible, implacable, imposition, inaccessible, inadvertent, inalienable.  Students will complete background information on 12 Angry Men in preparation for reading the play.  Worksheet will be turned in at the end of class, and if not finished, it must be completed for homework
Tuesday, Nov. 28 - Students will complete Voc. 13-2.  Students can make flashcards for extra credit.  Students will begin reading Act I and answering the study guide.
Wednesday, Nov. 29 - Students will complete Voc. 13-3 and G.W.U. 13-1.  Students will continue reading Act I and answering the study guide.  There will be a quiz over Act I when finished today or Thursday.
Thursday, Nov. 30 - Students will complete Voc. 13-3 and G.W.U. 13-2.  Students will begin reading Act II and answering the study guide.  
Friday, Dec. 1 - Students will complete Voc. 13 quiz.  Students will view Act I of 12 Angry Men comparing the video to the play.
 

Week of Nov. 20 - 22

Monday, Nov. 20 - There will not be Vocabulary words this week.  Students will begin working on the Short Story Test.  They can work on it in class today, tonight for homework, and tomorrow in class.  It is due at the end of class Tuesday.  Directions are as follows:
  1. Using the strip of paper, create a comic strip for one of the short stories that we read.
  2. Put the title and the author’s name in the first square.
  3. In the next 5  squares, draw pictures that will show the 5 main parts of the story.  Do  NOT  use stick figures.  
  4. Be sure that your pictures are colored (VERY colorful)  and neat.
  5. Include a brief explanation of what is happening -  or  -  include dialogue in each square in black ink.
  6. Comic strip will be graded on neatness, imagination, creativity, and your pictures must follow the plot of the story.  Outline your pictures in black ink so that they will show up better. 
  7. You are to start on your comic strip today in class, and finish it in class tomorrow. It is due at the end of class tomorrow Tuesday).
Tuesday, Nov. 21 - Students will continue working on Short Story Test/Project.  The test/Project is due at the end of class today.
