Week of Nov. 13 - 17

Monday, Nov. 13 - Students will define Voc. 12 words:   facsimile, farce, flagrant, fluctuate, fortitude, gloat, grimace, harass, heresy, hieroglyphic.  Students in 1st and 2nd periods will complete "The Dog That Bit People" study guide and take the quiz.  All students will begin introduction to the next short story, "Where Have You Gone, Charming Billy?" by Tim O'Brien.
 
Tuesday, Nov. 14 - Students will complete Voc. 12-2, and they can make flashcards for extra credit.  Students will begin reading "Where Have You Gone, Charming Billy?" and answer the study guide.
 
Wednesday, Nov. 15 - Students will complete G.W.U Correcting Run-on Sentences.  Students will complete the study guide and the information on theme that is on the back of the study guide.  Students must bring fully charged computers to class Thursday and Friday.
 
Thursday, Nov. 16 - Students must have fully charged computers in class in order to complete the English Benchmark Assessment.
 
Friday, Nov. 17 - Students will complete Voc. 12 Quiz.  Students will need fully charged computers in class in order to participate in a grade replacement opportunity.
 
Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 20 and 21 - Students will work on a short story project that will count as a test grade over the short story unit.

Week of Nov. 6 - 10

Monday, Nov. 6 - Students will turn in rough draft and final copy of their 5 paragraph essay.  Students will define Voc. 11 words:  espionage, ethical, evade, evolve, excerpt, expedient, explicate, exultant, fabricate, facilitate
Students will go over background information on Ray Bradbury and begin reading "There Will Come Soft Rains".  Progress Reports will be handed out to each student.  They should be signed by parents and returned by Friday for a 10 point bonus coupon
Tuesday, Nov. 7 - Students will complete Voc. 11-2.  They may make flashcards for extra credit.  Students will complete "There Will Come Soft Rains" study guide and take quiz over the story.  
Wednesday, Nov. 8 - Students will complete G.W.U. 11-1 on Connotation and Denotation.
Thursday, Nov. 9 -  Students will complete G.W.U. 11-2 on Connotation and Denotation.  Students will read the short story "The Dog That Bit People".
Friday, Nov. 10 - Students will complete Voc. 11 quiz.  Students will complete study guide for "The Dog That Bit People".

Week of Oct. 30 - Nov. 3

Monday, Oct. 30 -  Students will take notes on Poe's use of Symbols in "The Pit and the Pendulum" and what they represent.  Students will then complete quiz over "The Pit and the Pendulum".  Students will complete worksheet on Symbols and turn in.  If not finished in class, must be finished for homework.
Tuesday, Oct. 31 - Students will work on Voc. 6-10 review in preparation for the Voc. 6-10 test on Friday.
Wednesday, Nov. 1 - Students will begin complete introduction to "There Will Come Soft Rains" by taking notes on technology and its benefits and shortcomings.
Thursday, Nov. 2 - Students will complete a rough draft for a 5 paragraph essay on technology.  Students will follow guidelines that were given in class.
Friday, Nov. 3 - Students will complete Voc. 6-10 test.  Students will work on their final copy of the 5 paragraph essay using their rough draft and have the final copy ready to turn in on Monday, Nov. 6.

Week of Oct. 23 - 27

Monday, Oct. 23 - Students should have fully charged computers in class with them today.   Students will define Voc. 10 words:  elite, emancipate, emphatically, encompass, encumber, enjoin, ensue, episode, equilibrium, erratic.  Students will complete web quest on Edgar Allan Poe.  Must be finished for homework, if not finished in class.
Tuesday, Oct. 24 -  Students will complete Voc. 10-2.  Students can make flashcards for extra credit.  Students will begin to read "The Pit and the Pendulum" by Edgar Allan Poe.  Students will answer the study guide.
Wednesday, Oct. 25 - Students will complete Voc. 10-3 and G.W.U. 10-1.  Students will continue to read "The Pit and the Pendulum" and answering the study guide.
Thursday, Oct. 26 - Students will complete Voc. 10-3 and G.W.U. 10-2.  Students will finish reading  "The Pit and the Pendulum" and answering the study guide.  Students will complete the Symbols section on the back of the study guide.  Students will complete a quiz on "The Pit and the Pendulum".  Students will complete creative sheet on Symbols for homework,
Friday, Oct. 27 - Students will complete Voc. 10 quiz.  Students will be given Voc. 6 -10 review in preparation for Voc. 6-10 Test on Friday, Nov. 3.

Week of Oct. 16 - 20

Monday, Oct. 16 - Students will define Voc. 9 words:  diminutive, disperse, diversion, documentary. ecstatic, edifice, edify, effervescent, eject, electorate.  Students will set up notebooks for new quarter.  Students will be assigned an article in CommonLit that will be due Friday.  Students will review rules for using Quotation Marks correctly using a study guide. Students will complete the Practice on the back of the Study Guide for homework.
 
Tuesday, Oct. 17 -  Students will complete Voc. 9 - 2.  They can make flashcards for extra credit.  Review the notes for correctly using Quotation Marks in dialogue and Interrupted expressions using a study guide.  Homework:  complete Practice on Quotations Marks in Dialogue on the back of the study guide.
 
Wednesday, Oct. 18 - Students will complete Voc. 9-3 and G.W.U. 9-1.  Students will review the rules for writing dialogue using quotation marks correctly.  Test over Using Quotation Marks Correctly Thursday.
 
Thursday, Oct. 19 - Students will complete Voc. 9-3 and G.W.U. 9-2.  Complete Voc. 9-4 in preparation for quiz tomorrow.  Students will begin test over Quotation Marks.
 
Friday, Oct. 20 - CommonLit assignment needs to be completed by today and submitted.  Students will complete Voc. 9 Quiz.  They will then finish their  Quotation Marks Test.  Test MUST be turned in completed today - Friday - today.

Week of Oct. 16 - 20

Friday, Oct. 20 - Students will complete Voc. 9 Quiz.  They will then finish their  Quotation Marks Test.  Test MUST be turned in completed today - Friday.

Week of Oct. 2 - 6

Monday, Oct. 2 - Students will define Voc. 8 words:  debut, decimate, decrepit, defunct, delectable, demure, destitute, deteriorate, detonate, devastation. Students will work on Night  study guide in preparation for the test on Wednesday.  Notebook test tomorrow.  Must have notebook in class tomorrow, Tuesday, in order to complete Notebook Test.
 
Tuesday, Oct. 3 - Students wills complete Voc. 8-2.  Students may make flashcards for extra credit.  Students will complete Notebook Test.
 
Wednesday, Oct. 4 - Students will complete Voc. 8-3 and G.W.U. 8-1.  Students will complete Night test.
 
Thursday, Oct. 5 - Students will complete Voc. 8-3 and G.W.U. 8-2.  Students will work on a culminating writing activity to go along with Night.  Assignment is due tomorrow, Friday.
 
Friday, Oct. 6 - Students will complete Voc. 8 quiz.  They will complete and turn in writing assignment.

Week of Sept. 25 - 29

Monday, Sept. 25 - Students will define Voc. 7 words:  condescend, condole, conducive, consolidate, constituent, contemptuous, convene, crony, curtail, debase.  Students will read Chapter 6 of Night and answer the study guide.
Tuesday, Sept. 26 - Students will complete Voc. 7-2.  They may make flashcards for extra credit.  Students will read Chapter 7 of Night and answer the study guide.
Wednesday, Sept. 27 - Students will complete Voc. 7-3 and G.W.U. 7-1.  Students will finish reading Night by reading Chapter 8 and answering the study guide.  Students will need to bring fully charged computers to class Thursday.
Thursday, Sept. 28 - Students will complete 10th grade English CFA on the computers.
Friday, Sept. 29 - Students will complete Voc. 7 Quiz.  Students will receive a Notebook Checklist for the Notebook test on Tuesday, Oct. 3.  Students will work on their notebooks.

Week of Sept. 18 - 22

Monday, Sept. 18 -  Students will define Voc. 6 words:  coincidental, colloquial, commence, commendable, compassion, compatible, compliance, composure, conceive, concession.. Students will read chapter 4 in Night, and answer the study guide.  Progress Reports will be sent home today.  Parents need to sign and return by Friday in order for student to receive a 10 point bonus coupon.
Tuesday, Sept. 19 -  Students will complete Voc. 6-2 and make flashcards for extra credit.  Students will read Chpt. 5 of Night and answer the study guide.
Wednesday, Sept. 20 - Students will complete Voc. 6-3 and G.W.U. 6-1.  Students will finish reading Chpt. 5 and begin Chpt. 6 of Night and answer the study guide.
Thursday, Sept. 21 -  Students will complete Voc. 6-3 and G.W.U. 6-2.  Students will read chpt. 7 of Night and answer the study guide.
Friday, Sept. 22 - Students will complete Voc. 6 quiz.  Students will watch part of the Oprah Winfrey interview of Elie Wiesel.

Week of Sept. 11 - 14

Monday, Sept. 11 -  Students will be given a Voc. 1-5 Crossword Review Puzzle to complete in preparation for the Voc. 1-5 test on Thursday.  Students will also be assigned a reading assignment in CommonLit that will need to be completed by Friday, Sept. 15..
Tuesday, Sept. 12 - Students will read Chp. 3 of Night and answer the study guide.
Wednesday, Sept. 13 - Students will read Chp. 4 on Night and answer the study guide.
Thursday, Sept. 14 - Students will turn in review crossword puzzle and they will complete the Voc 1-5 test.  CommonLit assignment must be completed and submitted no later than Friday. Sept. 15.

Week of Sept. 5 - 8

Tuesday, Sept. 5 - Students will define Voc. 5 words:  casement, caustic, censure, charisma, clangor, clemency, cliche', clientele, closure, coffer. Students will continue reading Chapt. 1 of Night and answering the study guide.
Wednesday, Sept. 6 - Students will complete Voc. 5-2.  Students can make flashcards for extra credit.  Students will begin reading Chpt. 2 of Night and answering the study guide.
Thursday, Sept. 7 -  Students will complete exercise on the correct usage of semicolons.  Students will finish reading Chpt. 2 and begin reading Chpt. 3 of Night.
Friday, Sept. 8 - Students will complete Voc. 5 quiz.  Students will watch the first part of "Oprah's Interview with Elie Weisel" in order to gain a better understanding of what they are reading.  Students will continue with the reading of Night.

Week of August 28 - Sept. 1

Monday, Aug. 28 - Students will define Voc. 4 words:  bestride, bias, botch, bourgeois, breach, buffet, callous, canine, can't, carp. (They will finish the definitions for homework.) Students will bring fully charged computers so that they can login to Common Lit and set up an account.  Students will then watch a powerpoint introduction to Night.
 
Tuesday, Aug. 29 - Students will complete Voc. 4-2.  They can make flashcards for extra credit to be checked tomorrow.  Students will then begin work on Holocaust research packets.  Progress Reports will be handed out.  They must signed by parents and returned by Friday, Sept. 1, in order to get a 10 point bonus coupon.
 
Wednesday, Aug. 30 - Students will complete Voc. 4-3 and correct G.W.U. 4-1.  Students will continue to work on Holocaust research packets.
 
Thursday, Aug.  31 - Students will complete Voc. 4-3 and correct G.W.U. 4-2.  Students will watch short introductory video on Night.  Students will begin reading Night and answering the study guide.
 
Friday, Sept. 1 - Students will complete Voc. 4 Quiz and continue reading Night.
 

Week of Aug. 21 - 25

 Monday, Aug. 21 - Students will define Voc. 3 words:  assert, astute, atrocious. autonomy, axiom, balmy, bayou, bedlam, beguile, besiege
Students will continue to review the rules for using subject/verb agreement correctly.
Tuesday, Aug. 22 - Students will complete Voc. 3-2 and make flashcards for extra credit. Students will continue to review the rules for using subject/verb agreement correctly.
Wednesday, Aug. 23 - Flashcards will be checked for extra credit.  Students will complete Voc. 3-3 and correct G.W.U. 3-1.  Students will continue to review the rules for using subject/verb agreement correctly in preparation for test over Subject/Verb Agreement Friday.
Thursday, Aug. 24 - Students will complete Voc. 3-3 and correct G.W.U. 3-2.
All students will have pictures made for the yearbook. 
Friday, Aug. 25 - Students will complete Voc. 3 Quiz and Test over Subject/Verb Agreement.

Week of August 14 - 18

Monday, Aug. 14 - Students will set up their notebooks and organizing their papers.  Students will begin defining Voc. 2 words and finish them for homework:  annihilate, anthropology, antiquity, apex, appease, apprehensive, aptitude, arbiter, archaic, ascertain.  Students will use their "Name" research to complete the writing assignment on their names.
Tuesday, Aug. 15 - Students will complete Voc. 2-2.  They will make flashcards for homework.  Students will be given a large index card with which to finish the "Name" assignment.  Completed "Name" card and rough draft will be turned in tomorrow.
Wednesday, Aug. 16 - Students will complete Voc. 2-3 and G.W.U. 2-1.  Students will review the rules for Subject-Verb Agreement.
Thursday, Aug. 17 - Students will complete Voc. 2-3 and G.W.U. 2-2.  Students will continue to review rules for Subject-Verb Agreement.
Friday, Aug. 18 - Students will complete Voc. 2 Quiz.  Students will continue to review rules for Subject-Verb Agreement.
