Welcome/About Me
Hello everybody!
I want to tell you about myself. I was born in Boston but moved to Little Rock when I was 5. I am the oldest of family of 4 boys with a half-sister on my dads side. My parents got divorced when I was young so I don't know how my mom did it raising 4 boys on her own. She is wonderful. I went to high school at Little Rock Christian Academy and then attended college at the University of Arkansas. I was a part of the Christian Fraternity BYX (Brothers Under Christ). I majored in Broadcast Journalism. I thought how great would it be to get paid to talk about sports! I had a job working at a group home for under privileged kids in college and that changed my life and my career aspirations. I then became a part of the first Teach for Arkansas Cohort (modeled after Teach for America).
I then got placed in Forrest City, AR as a 9th grade Algebra 1 teacher. My second year I taught Geometry, Algebra 1, and Algebra 2. During my time in Forrest City i graduated with my masters in curriculum and instruction from Walden University. I taught in Forrest City for 5 years before getting married to my amazing wife and moving to Bartlett, TN. My wife is from the Memphis area as she attended Houston High growing up. I have 11 years of experience teaching Geometry (4 years of teaching Pre-AP Geometry in Forrest City and 3 years teaching Honors Geometry in Bartlett), 5 years experience teaching Algebra 1, and 1 year of experience teaching Algebra 2.
Some hobbies that I have is watching sports (baseball, basketball, and football), playing games and traveling to cities and to theme parks (I wish I could ride a roller coaster every day). My favorite theme parks are Kings Island, Silver Dollar City, Busch Gardens Williamsburg and Hershey Park. My wife and I love to travel and Chicago is one of our favorite cities to visit. My dad raised me to go through the pains of being a die hard Cubs fan so and this year is no different. I also follow Baylor football and basketball because my mom and brother attended school there.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read through this page to get to know me better. I look foreword to teaching and getting to know your child throughout this year. I am excited and hopeful that this year will be a great school experience for your child. Feel free to contact me if you ever have any questions or concerns.
Thank you,
Mr. Zust
