Week of Aug. 7 - 11

English 10 – Mrs. Schwill and Ms. Kelly  -  WEEK OF AUGUST  7 – 11

 

Monday, Aug. 7 –

Students will review class expectations and policies and procedures. 

Students who have not signed up for Remind, will do so now.

Notebooks will be explained.  Notebooks and 5 dividers will be due by Monday, Aug. 14.

Students will receive a Vocabulary 1 sheet and will complete Voc. 1-1 for homework.

Summer Reading will be discussed. 

Summer Reading Project will be due Friday, Aug.18.

 

Tuesday, Aug. 8 –

 

Students will review and check Voc. 1-1 and complete Voc. 1-2.

Make Vocabulary flashcards for extra credit – will be checked Thursday

Vocabulary 1 Quiz will be Friday, Aug. 11

Summer Reading Project will be due Friday, Aug. 18.

 

Wednesday, Aug. 9 –

Students will complete Voc. 1-3

Read “My Name” vignette

Research your name – what it means, where it came from, how you feel about it, etc. 

Bring pictures, stickers, photos, things to use to “explain” YOU

 

 

Thursday, Aug. 10 –

Students will complete Voc. 1-4

Students will complete G.W.U. 1 – 1, making the necessary corrections in grammar, punctuation, confusing words and spelling.

Flashcards will be checked today.

Vocabulary 1 Quiz Friday (tomorrow).

Students will write a personal paragraph telling about their name.  Paragraph is due at the end of class.

 

 

Friday, Aug. 11 -

 

Vocabulary 1 Quiz

Students will be given a  large, colored index card to complete their Name project following the  direections and rubric.  Name Card due Monday, Aug. 14.

 

Reminders:  1 inch 3-ring binder with 5 dividers due Monday

                      Have the Summer Reading Short Stories completed by Monday, Aug. 14.  Project will be discussed and started in class on Monday.
