Week of Jan. 28 - Feb. 1

Monday, Jan. 28 - Students will complete Voc. 19-2.  Vocabulary 19 words:  mettle,  mien,  militant,  momentum,  mortify,  mosque,  mull,  mutable,  mystic,  naive.  Students will finish reading "There Will Come Soft Rains" and answering the study guide. Students will work on a "figurative language" assignment to accompany the story.  Assignment is listed on Clever, and should be finished for homework.  Progress Reports will be sent home.  Students need to have parent signature and return by Friday in order to get a 10 point bonus coupon.
 
Tuesday, Jan. 29 - Students will go over Voc. 19-2.  Students will complete quiz over "There Will Come Soft Rains".  Students will work on writing assignment for the story.  Complete Acrostics for five vocabulary 19 words.
 
Wednesday, Jan. 30 - Students will complete G.W.U. 19-1 and Voc. 19-3.  Students will continue to work on writing assignment.  Complete Acrostic for 5 Vocabulary 19 words.  Write first paragraph for writing assignment.  (Directions are on Clever - under "Short Stories" - "Outline for Essay")
 
Thursday, Jan. 31 -  Students will complete G.W.U. 19-2 and Voc. 19-3.  Students will complete writing assignment that was started yesterday..  
 
Friday, Feb. 1 - Students will complete Voc. 19 Quiz.  Students will complete CommonLit assignment.  (Students will choose a short story on ComonLit to read and answer the assessment.).  Last day to turn in signed Progress Report.

Week of Jan. 22 - 25

Tuesday, Jan. 22 - Students will define Voc. 18 words: mandatory, mannerism, martial, meager, mediocre, melancholy, melodramatic, mentor, merge, meticulous.  Students will finish reading "Where Have You Gone, Charming Billy?" and answering the study guide.
 
Wednesday, Jan. 23 - Students will complete Voc. 18-2.  Students will complete research on Ray Bradbury in preparation for reading "There Will Come Soft Rains".
 
Thursday, Jan. 24 - Students will complete G.W.U. 18-1 and Voc. 18-3.  Students will begin reading "There Will Come Soft Rains."
 
Friday, Jan. 25 - Student will complete Voc. 18 quiz.  Students will continue reading "There Will Come Soft Rains."

Week of Jan. 14 - 18

Monday, Jan. 14 - Voc. 17 words:  juncture, lament, lapse, latitude, legacy, lexicon, livid, loathe, malignant, malleable.   Students will complete Voc. 17-2.  Students will finish answering "The Monkey's Paw" study guide.  Students will complete "The Monkey's Paw" quiz.
 
Tuesday, Jan. 15 - Students will go over Voc. 17-2.  Based upon last week's Vocab quiz, students who made an 85 or above will write a paragraph using 5 of this week's vocabulary words.  Those students who made an 84 or below will have to use all 10 vocabulary words in a paragraph for homework. (Paragraphs will be checked Thursday.)  Students will begin reading "The Dog That Bit People" and answer the study guide.
 
Wednesday, Jan. 16 - Students will correct G.W.U. 17-1 and Voc. 17-3.  Students will write a paragraph using this week's vocabulary words, based upon last week's vocabulary quiz. Paragraphs will be due tomorrow, Thursday.  Students will finish reading "The Dog That Bit People" and answering the study guide.  Students will complete the quiz over the story. 
 
Thursday, Jan. 17 - Students will correct G.W.U. 17-2 and Voc. 17-4.  Students will begin reading "Where Have You Gone, Charming Billy?"
 
Friday, Jan. 18 - Students will complete Voc. 17 Quiz.  Students will finish reading "Where Have You Gone, Charming Billy".  Quiz over the story.

Week of Jan. 7-11

Monday, Jan. 7 - Students will identify and complete Voc. 16-2.  Voc. 16 words:  intuition, invariably, invincible, irksome, irrational, irrelevant, itinerary, jargon, jostle, judicious.  Students will complete a 2018 Personal Reflection sheet.
 
Tuesday, Jan. 8 - Students will check Voc. 16-2.  Students will make 5 Vocabulary Expert Cards for homework.  Students will use yesterday's 2018 Personal Reflection Sheet to complete the Graphic Organizer sheet.  Graphic Organizer will be turned in at the end of class, or it can be finished for homework and turned in Wednesday.
 
Wednesday, Jan. 9 - Students will complete Voc. 16-3 and G.W.U. 16-1.  Student will make 5 more Vocabulary Expert Cards - all will be checked Thursday.  Students will begin reading "The Monkey's Paw" by William W. Jacobs and begin answering the study guide.
 
Thursday, Jan. 10 - Students will complete Voc. 16-4 and G.W.U. 16-2.    Students will finish reading "The Monkey's Paw" and answer the study guide.  Quiz over "The Monkey's Paw".
 
Friday, Jan. 11 - Students will complete Voc. 16 quiz.  Students will complete short story analysis on "The Monkey's Paw".

Week of Dec. 17 - 21

Monday, Dec. 17 - Students will go over Voc. 14-2.  Students will complete Julius Caesar Test.  Students will work on organizing their notebooks for the Notebook test Tuesday.  Students will also receive the Voc. exam review to work on.
 
Tuesday, Dec. 18 - Students will complete Notebook Test.  Students will work on exam review.
 
Wednesday, Dec. 19 - Students will work on Exam reviews.
 
Thursday, Dec. 20 - 4th period students will complete exam.  1st, 2nd, and 3rd period students will work on Exam reviews.
 
Friday, Dec. 21 - Students in 1st, 2d, and 3rd periods will complete exam.

Week of Dec. 10 - 14

Monday, Dec. 10 - Turn in CommonLit assignment on "The Day of Infamy Speech."  Vocab. 13 words:  hors d'oeuvre, immaculate, impartial, impediment, imperceptible, implacable, imposition, inaccessible, inadvertent, inalienable. Complete Voc. 13-2.  Finish reading Act IV and answer the study guide.
 
Tuesday, Dec. 11 -  Review Voc. 13-2 and make 5 Voc. Expert Cards for homework.  Begin reading Act V of Julius Caesar and answer the study guide.
 
Wed., Dec. 12 - Complete G.W.U. 13-1 and Voc. 13-3.  Finish reading Act 5 and take quiz over Act V.
 
Thursday, Dec. 13 - Review sheet on Julius Caesar for test on Monday, Dec. 17.  Students will receive notebook check list for test on Tuesday, Dec. 18. 
 
Friday, Dec. 14 - Students will complete Voc.13 quiz.  Students will receive Voc. 14 words:  inanimate, inarticulate, incendiary, incentive, inclement, inconsistent, indestructible, indict, indignant, indomitable. . Students will watch Act V.

Week of Dec. 3 - 7

Monday, Dec. 3 - Voc. 12 words: facsimile, farce, flagrant, fluctuate, fortitude, gloat, grimace, harass, heresy, hieroglyphic. Students will complete Voc. 12-2 and make 5 Vocab. Expert Cards.  Students will finish reading Mark Antony's eulogy and scene 3 of Act III.  Students will complete Act III quiz.
 
Tuesday, Dec. 4 - Students will go over Voc. 12-2 and make 5 more vocabulary expert cards for homework.  Students will complete analysis sheet over Mark Antony's speech.
 
Wednesday, Dec. 5 - Students will complete G.W.U. sheet on Combining Sentences.  Students will complete Analysis Sheet on Antony's speech.
 
Thursday, Dec. 6 - Students will complete Voc. 12-3 sentences.  Students will watch Act III of Julius Caesar.
 
Friday, Dec. 7 - Students will take Voc. 12 Quiz.  Students will complete an assignment on CommonLit.
 

Week of Nov. 26 - 30

Monday, Nov. 26 - Vocabulary 11 words:  espionage, ethical, evade, evolve, excerpt, expedient, explicate, exultant, fabricate, facilitate.  Students will complete Voc. 26-2.  Students will make 5 Voc. Expert Cards for homework.  Students will watch Acts I and II of Julius Caesar.
 
Tuesday, Nov. 27 -  Students will review Voc. 11-2 and make the remaining 5 Vocal. Expert Cards for homework.  Students will begin reading Act III, sc. 1 and answering the the study guide.
 
Wednesday, Nov. 28 - Students will complete G.W.U. 12-1 and Voc. 12-3.  Students will finish reading Act III, sc.1 and begin sc. 2, and answer the study guide.
 
Thursday, Nov. 29 - Students will complete G.W.U. 12-2 and Voc. 12-4.  Students will finish reading Act III, sc. 2 and compare and contrast the two funeral eulogies focusing on the rhetoric.
 
Friday, Nov. 30 - Students will complete Voc. 11 quiz.  Students will continue with the comparing and contrasting of the funeral eulogies.

Week of Nov. 12 - 16

Monday, Nov. 12 - Students will work on Voc. 6-10 review that they received Friday.  Voc. 6-10 test will be Friday, Nov. 16.  Students will begin reading Act II, sc. 1 of Julius Caesar, and answering the study guide.  Students will receive Interim Progress Reports.  They are to be signed and returned by Friday, Nov. 16.
 
Tuesday, Nov. 13 - Students will finish reading Act II, sc. 1 and answer the study guide.  Students will begin reading Act II, sc. 2.
 
Wednesday, Nov. 14 - Students will finish reading Act II, sc. 2, and begin reading sc. 3 and 4.  Students will finish answering the study guide and and complete the quiz over Act II.
 
Thursday, Nov. 15 - Students will begin a writing assignment to accompany the reading of Act II.  Completed assignment is due Friday.
 
Friday, Nov. 16 - Students will complete Voc. 6-10 Test. Student will finish and submit writing assignment.

Week of Nov. 5 - 9

Monday, Nov. 5 - Students will complete Voc. 10-2.  Voc. 10 words:  elite,   emancipate, emphatically,   encompass,    encumber,  enjoin,  ensue,   episode,  equilibrium,  erratic.  Students will read Act I, sc. 2, and complete the study guide.  Students will make 5 vocabulary word expert cards for homework.
 
Tuesday, Nov. 6 - Students will review Voc. 10-2. Students will make 5 more vocabulary word expert cards for homework.  All 10 word cards will be checked Wednesday.  Students will read Act I, sc. 3.
 
Wednesday, Nov. 7 - All 10th grade students will take the English Benchmark test on their computers.  Students will complete Voc. 10-3 for homework.
 
Thursday, Nov. 8 - Students will complete Voc. 10-3 and G.W.U. 10-1.  Students will finish reading Act I and complete a quiz over Act I, and begin reading Act II.
 
Friday, Nov. 9 - Students will complete a quiz over Voc. 10.  Students will work on Voc. 6-10 review crossword puzzle.  Test over Voc. 6-10 will be Friday, Nov. 16.

Week of Oct. 29 - Nov. 2

Monday, Oct. 29 - Students will turn in rhetoric assignment from Friday.  Students will match Voc. 9-2 words:  diminutive,  disperse,  diversion,  documentary,   ecstatic,  edifice,  edify,  effervescent,  eject,  electorate.  Students will also make 5 Voc. Expert cards for homework.  Students will begin to watch powerpoint on William Shakespeare and fill in guided notes.  
 
Tuesday, Oct. 30 -   Students will review Voc. 9-2 and make 5 more Voc. expert cards for homework, create 3 truths and a lie for 5 vocabulary words.  Students will continue to watch powerpoint on William Shakespeare and complete guided notes.  Students will finish for homework.  (Powerpoint and questions are on Clever/Curve).
 
Wednesday, Oct. 31- Students will turn in Shakespeare guided notes.  Students will complete Voc. 9-3 and G.W.U. 9-1. Students will also create 3 truths and a lie for  5  more vocabulary words.  Three trucks and a lie for all 10 vocabulary words is due Thursday.   Students will watch powerpoint on Julius Caesar and complete guided notes.  Finish guided notes for homework.  (Powerpoint and questions are on Clever/Curve).
 
Thursday, Nov. 1 - Students will complete G.W.U. 9-2.  Students will begin reading and annotating  Act I, sc. 1 study guide.  
 
Friday, Nov. 2 - Students will complete Voc. 9 quiz, and read  Act I, Sc. 2.

Week of October 22 - 26

Monday, Oct. 22 - Students will turn writing assignment for Night that was assigned last Friday.  Students will complete Voc. 8-2 and make Voc. expert cards for 5 of the vocabulary 8 words: debut,  decimate,  decrepit,  defunct,  delectable,  demure,  destitute,  deteriorate,  detonate,  devastation.  Students will set up their notebooks for the 2nd quarter.  Students will be introduced to Rhetoric. Copy directions of Rhetoric Project to be placed in the "Work" section of your notebook. (Listed on Curve/Clever)
 
Tuesday, Oct. 23 - Students will review Voc. 8-2 and make voc. expert cards for the remaining 5 vocabulary words for a total of 10 cards.  Students will continue discussing Rhetoric and how it is used in speeches and writings.
 
Wednesday, Oct. 24 - Students will correct G.W.U. 8-1 and complete Voc. 8-3.  Students will be able to identify the different types of Rhetoric in specific writings.
 
Thursday, Oct. 25 - Students will correct G.W.U. 8-2 and complete Voc. 8-4. Students will watch powerpoint on William Shakespeare and complete the study guide in preparation for reading Julius CaesarStudy guide will be completed for homework.
 
Friday, Oct. 26 - Students will complete Voc. 8 quiz.  Rhetoric Project due today on flash drive.

Week of Oct. 15 - 19

Monday, Oct. 15. - Because of three tests this week and the end of the Quarter, there will be NO vocabulary words this week.  Today students will receive and will work on a review for Night.  Night test will be Wednesday, Oct. 17.  Students will also receive a check-off sheet in order to prepare for the Notebook test on Thursday, Oct. 18.
 
Tuesday, Oct. 16 - All tenth grade students will be taking a Pre-ACT test.  Students will need fully charged computers.
 
Wednesday, Oct. 17 - Students will compete a test over the book Night
 
Thursday, Oct. 18 - Students will use their notebooks to complete the Notebook Test.
 
Friday, Oct. 19 - Students will complete a concluding writing assignment on Night.
 

Week of Oct. 1 - 5

Monday, Oct. 1 - Vocabulary 7 words:  condescend, condole, conducive, consolidate, constitutent, contemptuous, convene, crony, curtail, debase 
Students will complete Voc. 7-2.  Students are to make 5 Vocabulary Expert cards for homework.  Students will finish reading Chpt. 5, pp. 79 - 84, in Night and answer the study guide.  Students will begin reading Chpt. 6, pp. 85 - 90.
 
Tuesday, Oct. 2 - Students will review Voc. 7-2.  Students are to make 5 more Vocabulary Expert cards for a total of 10 Vocabulary Expert Cards.  Students will finish reading Chpt. 6, pp. 90 - 97 and answer the study guide.  Students will read Chpt. 7,  pp. 98 - 104, and answer the study guide.
 
Wednesday, Oct. 3 - Students will complete G.W.U. 7-1.  Students will finish reading Night, pp. 104 - 114.  Students will finish answering the study guide.
 
Thursday, Oct. 4 - Students will complete Voc. 7-3 and G.W.U. 7-2.  Students will receive a review sheet for Night in order to prepare for the test on Night.  The Night Test will be Friday.
 
Friday, Oct. 5 - Students will complete Voc. 7 quiz.  Students will complete Night Test.

Week of September 24 - 28

Monday, Sept. 24 - Students will complete Voc. 6-2.  Vocabulary 6 words are:  coincidental, compassion, compliance, conceive, concession, colloquial, commence, commendable, compatible, composure.  Students will make Voc. Expert Cards  for 5 of the vocabulary words. Students will finish reading Chpt. 4 of Night and answering the study guide.  Students will receive Progress Reports.  Progress Reports need to be signed and returned by Friday, Sept. 28, in order to receive a 10 point bonus coupon.
 
Tuesday, Sept. 25 - Students will check Voc. 6-2.  Students will make Voc. Expert Cards for the remainder of the Vocabulary words. Students will also take at least 5 of this week's vocabulary words and write a story or paragraph.  The paragraph is due Thursday, Sept. 27. Students will finish reading Chpt. 4 of Night, answering the study guide, and turn in the study guide.
 
Wednesday, Sept. 26 -  All 10 Voc. 6 Expert Cards due today.  Students will correct G.W.U. 6-1 and complete Voc. 6-3 for homework.  Voc. 6 quiz will be tomorrow, Thursday this week.  Students will begin reading Chpt. 5 of Night.  Vocabulary 6 words paragraph or story due Thursday.  Transition forms are due today.
 
Thursday, Sept. 27 - Students will complete Voc. 6 Quiz.  Students will turn in Voc. 6 paragraph or story.  Students will finish reading Chpt. 5 and begin Chpt. 6 of Night.
 
Friday, Sept. 28 - Students will complete Comprehension Choice for Night sheet in class.  Assignment will be turned in at the end of class.
