About Me

My name is Mrs. Johnson, and I will be your English teacher this year.  As a teacher, I thoroughly enjoy reading and writing.  I believe that it is a very important part of our daily lives.  I hope that if English is not your favorite subject, I will be able to change your mind by the end of this year.  This is an English class, and you will be doing a lot of writing, but do not panic! Most of the things that you do for this course will be done in class.  However, this means that we will have very little downtime throughout the year, and you will need to be ready to work every day when you come to this class.

This will be my 23rd year as a teacher.  I taught four years in Arkansas, three years in Iowa, and now this is my 16th year at Bartlett.  I was the cheerleading coach for ten years, but I am taking a break from being a coach and now I oversee the BHS Book Club.  Please let me know if you participate in any sports or activities.  If you do, I would love to come and see you in choir, band, drama, sports, or any other activities you enjoy.  I love to see my students accomplishing their goals!  So, please let me know when you have events, so I can come and show my support!

I hope that you had a good summer this year.  I was able to do a lot of fun things during summer break.  I am married, and we have 2 boys, ages 5 and 10.  We went to the zoo, pool, Hot Springs, Iowa, shopping, miniature golfing, Six Flags, disc golfing and many basketball and baseball games.

I am looking forward to this upcoming year.  My goals are to prepare you for college, the workplace, and adult life by improving your writing skills, your reading comprehension, and by broadening your knowledge of the English language.
